How do you transfer from Revolut to a bank account?

Add or select a bank recipient and use the exact local, SEPA or international route shown in-app. Own-bank and third-party payments are conditional on the recipient, currency, scheme, balance, review, fee, limit and estimated arrival. Card, internal, ATM and crypto actions remain separate.

Bank-transfer check

Which Revolut-to-bank action are you making?

Ownership, recipient, UK local, SEPA, SWIFT, card and mismatched instructions keep separate states.

Revolut balance → customer-owned bank

Supported when the beneficiary and rail pass

Add the other account as a truthful bank recipient.

Revolut documents outbound bank transfers to saved bank recipients. An account owned by the same customer still needs the current holder name, account or IBAN, destination, currency and payment scheme required in-app. The available balance, verification, transfer limit, review, fee and estimated arrival must all pass; ownership does not create a special instant-withdrawal guarantee.

Exact scope
Eligible United Kingdom Revolut customer moving available money to another bank account owned by that customer.
Evidence state
Revolut's send and beneficiary guidance covers bank recipients without exempting same-owner accounts from validation.
Safe next step
Add the current bank instruction, verify the destination owner and selected currency, and read the final transfer summary before sending.

The recipient boundary

A bank transfer starts with a bank recipient, not a generic withdrawal button.

Revolut directs customers to Payments, then a bank or international recipient. The app asks for the fields required by the destination. A saved recipient is a reusable instruction, but it is not permanent proof that the account is open, the owner is unchanged, the currency is accepted or the next transfer will clear review.

An own-bank movement uses the customer's other bank details. A third-party payment uses the other person or organisation's details. Both can be legitimate, but the holder, address, purpose, reference and payment scheme must tell the truth. A customer should confirm new or changed instructions through a trusted channel because an edited beneficiary can redirect real money.

“Completed” does not always mean “available to the recipient.”

Revolut says the recipient bank can take another one or two business days to post a transfer after Revolut marks it completed. Save the confirmation and let the bank trace the exact transfer instead of sending a duplicate.

This page is scoped to current United Kingdom evidence. UK GBP local, EUR SEPA and other international transfers have different fees and ordinary timeframes. The same labels must not be copied to a US ACH payment, an Australian transfer, a business batch payment or a destination whose local scheme is different.

Safe transfer sequence

Verify the recipient before choosing speed or price.

The receiving instruction determines the route; the live transfer determines whether it can be released.

  1. 01

    Identify the destination owner.

Decide whether this is your other bank account or a genuine third-party payee. Confirm the legal or personal name and payment purpose. Do not classify a merchant, crypto exchange, cash withdrawal or card recipient as a normal bank account.

  2. 02

    Obtain current bank instructions.

Collect the account number and sort code for the UK path, IBAN for an eligible SEPA path, or the account, BIC, address and intermediary details requested for international payment. Use a physical beneficiary address when the live form requires it.

  3. 03

    Add or recheck the beneficiary.

Enter the destination, currency and owner exactly. Editing a saved account can be appropriate after a verified bank change, but it also creates a new fraud risk. Re-confirm material changes outside the message that supplied them.

  4. 04

Review currency, fee, FX and estimate.

Check the debit balance, conversion, amount delivered, Revolut fee, any Pay All Fees option, external deductions, limit and estimated date. A paid-plan discount applies only to the named fee and does not eliminate intermediary or receiving-bank charges.

  5. 05

Track one transfer to a final state.

Preserve the ID, confirmation, amount, recipient, reference, scheme, status and estimate. Do not create a replacement while the original is pending, completed but unposted, reverting, returning or under recall.

Revolut lists up to one business day for an outbound UK local transfer, a few minutes for SEPA Instant, up to two business days for regular SEPA and up to two business days for SWIFT. The payment-specific tracker controls.

Fee, conversion and timing

Free local or SEPA pricing does not make the whole route free.

The app fee, exchange, intermediary deduction and recipient credit remain separate.

UK local

Same-country GBP is the stated free bank-transfer case.

The current UK personal schedule lists transfers to a UK account in the same country and currency as free. That does not waive conversion, a card-recipient fee, a different-country fee or a receiving-bank charge. Confirm the transfer is actually classified as UK local GBP.

SEPA and international

EUR SEPA and other international payments differ.

Eligible EUR SEPA payments are listed as free. Other non-SEPA international transfers show a transaction-specific Revolut fee, and paid plans can discount it. Currency conversion and plan fair-use terms are separate, so compare the entire debit and net recipient amount.

SWIFT deductions

Intermediaries may reduce receipt.

External banks can take charges outside Revolut's control. Where Pay All Fees is offered, its upfront price and supported route appear in-app. Without it, the amount sent and amount received can differ even when the Revolut fee was correctly displayed.

Local, SEPA and SWIFT

The account details must belong to the selected payment scheme.

A UK local instruction normally uses the destination account number and sort code for GBP. An eligible EUR SEPA instruction uses an IBAN and may require a BIC or other beneficiary data. An international SWIFT instruction can require a BIC, account number or IBAN, bank and beneficiary addresses, purpose and intermediary details. One field list cannot safely stand in for all three.

Currency is equally important. Sending GBP to an account expecting EUR or using a local-only account for SWIFT can trigger conversion, rejection or reversion. Revolut specifically lists wrong currency and wrong transfer type among reversion causes. The receiving bank's current instruction and Revolut's live route must agree.

A card number is not an account number, and a transfer to a card recipient is priced and processed separately. Another Revolut user can receive an internal transfer without using a bank recipient. An ATM withdrawal turns card authorization into cash. A crypto withdrawal moves a supported digital asset on a network. Keeping these paths separate protects fee, cancellation and support accuracy.

Entity and protection boundary

The provider entity, payment rail and recipient deposit are different facts.

Current UK transition evidence must remain attached to the actual account.

Provider

Revolut Bank UK Ltd

The cited record names Revolut Bank UK Ltd for the current UK bank context and notes a staged migration from some older e-money accounts. The authenticated account and agreement determine the customer's entity; this page does not assume every historic account migrated identically.

In transit

Local, SEPA or correspondent bank rail

A transfer can leave Revolut, pass through clearing or intermediary banks and wait for beneficiary-bank posting. A completed sender status is not an insured balance at every intermediary and does not transfer the protection status of one product to another.

Destination

Recipient bank relationship

After final credit, the receiving bank governs account availability and any eligible protection under its own market and customer relationship. Crypto, investments, card transactions and other group services retain separate entities and protections.

Pending, failed, reverted or cancelled

Use the transfer tracker before trying again.

The words describe different locations of money and different recovery options.

  1. Pending.Revolut says a transfer can stay pending up to 72 hours because of holidays, processing checks, requested information, incorrect details or an unsupported scheme. Wait for the tracker.
  2. Failed before release.A transfer that cannot be created or fails before money leaves should not be treated as a bank return. Recheck balance, account verification, limits, recipient and requested evidence.
  3. Completed but not posted.Allow the recipient bank's additional one or two business days, then provide the downloadable confirmation for its trace if the bank details are correct.
  4. Reverted or returned.A payment stopped by an intermediary or rejected by the beneficiary bank can take up to five business days domestically and fifteen to twenty days internationally to come back.
  5. Cancel or recall.Only eligible transactions show Cancel. A recall asks the recipient bank to return funds, is not guaranteed and has no guaranteed timeframe. Requesting it is not a final result.
A sent transfer is not freely editable.

Changing a saved beneficiary does not change the transfer already released. Do not pay an off-platform recovery fee, share a passcode, grant remote access or send a second payment to prove ownership.

Operational states

Conditional support includes every non-success state.

Loading, empty, stale, error, review, failure, reversion and return need different actions.

Loading

Recipient or quote unresolved

Wait for the complete beneficiary, currency, fee, exchange, net amount, estimate and confirmation control.

Empty

No bank route offered

An absent bank, country, currency or scheme is unavailable. Do not force a card or internal path into its place.

Stale

Saved beneficiary changed

Re-confirm ownership and instructions through a trusted source before editing or reusing the record.

Error

Checker or transfer unavailable

Fail closed without inventing a fee, arrival, limit, protection status, cancellation or fallback route.

Review

Information requested

Submit truthful requested evidence once and preserve the case. Repeated attempts can create duplicates.

Failed

Funds did not leave

Correct the documented creation or validation cause and confirm the balance before another attempt.

Reverted

Sent then rejected

Track the original amount, currency, fees and return confirmation until the Revolut balance is final.

Recall

Recovery requested

A recall remains uncertain until the beneficiary bank responds and the funds actually return.

Evidence ledger

Entity, recipient, fee, timing and recovery records stay separate.
